1Th 4:17 Then
we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in
the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

comfort one another with these words.
If Paul is speaking the inspired word of God, and we know
that he is (2Ti 3:16 All scripture is
given by inspiration of God, and is profitable...) then they that were alive and hearing this
were comforting one another with these words.
What if you were out of gas and you called me for help, and I told you that I would be there! Take comfort! Just wait, keep looking for me.
What comfort would it be to you if what I really meant was that I would be there long after you or any of your decedents that could remember you, are dead and gone? They were expecting to “be caught up together with them in the clouds” And they were not disappointed!
