A verse for 7/1/12

I recently read, “Transforming Grace” by Jerry Bridges. As I read, I thought how I would like to share the insight that the book holds with you. So this month we will look at some of the principals of the Grace that will Transform your life!

Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9  not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

I know that you know this verse, and I know that you believe that your salvation is by the grace of God alone. But most Christians, while believing that they are saved by grace, believe also that they have a relationship with God because of their performance instead of His grace. If we have performed well—whatever “well” is in our opinion, then we expect God to bless us. If we haven’t done well, our expectations are reduced. I want us to see that we are not only saved by grace but we are sanctified by the same grace of God, not by our performance or the lack of it.
