I read something about the laws in this country concerning “Bankruptcy”
and the parallelism with our Christian life. In the laws of bankruptcy you can
file chapter 11 or chapter 7. One says I am totally bankrupt! The other says
that I just need some time with this debt gone for a while, then I can make arrangements
to pay my way.
We want to come to Christ with a chapter 11 bankruptcy, that
is I need you to take this debt away until I can pay my own way; I will go to
church. I will read the bible every day. I will pray every day. I will tell
others about you. I will do all kind of stuff so that I can pay my own way. I am not saying that we should not do stuff, I’m
am saying that your stuff does not earn you any merit.
You are totally bankrupt! You are a chapter 7 case. You
cannot, now or ever, pay your debt.
Rom 3:10 as it is
written: "None is righteous, no, not one;
Rom 3:11 no one
understands; no one seeks for God.
Rom 3:12 All have
turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even
one."
Rom 3:13 "Their
throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive." "The
venom of asps is under their lips."
Rom 3:14 "Their
mouth is full of curses and bitterness."
Rom 3:15 "Their
feet are swift to shed blood;
Rom 3:16 in their
paths are ruin and misery,
Rom 3:17 and the way
of peace they have not known."
Rom 3:18 "There
is no fear of God before their eyes."
