After Job had all of these unthinkable things happen to him
three of his friends came by to comfort him in all of his grief. “They sat with
him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him,
for they saw that his suffering was very great.” Then after Job speak up each
one of the friends speak works of comfort to him (not really, I am being sarcastic).
Then for the third time in this chapter
Job speaks again and he is sort of put these comforters in there place when he
says; “No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you. But I have
understanding as well as you;” Job
12:2-3
Some commentators on
Job say that he is kind-of a smart-alecky! I think he just understands that God
is sovereign and He will do what He pleases to do.
