A new post for 8/30/13

Act 20:29  I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;

I think that by now you have got the point, words or statements can be figures of speech. They help us to have a clearer picture of what is being said.

I think that all of creation is kinda like a figure of speech to help us see the real kingdom.

I know that I have been somewhat scattered this month, but I hope I have caused you to think about God’s creation and His kingdom.

Rev 21:23  And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

The sun and the moon are only dim copies of the real light; the Lamb of God.

A new post for 8/22/13

Rom 9:21  Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?
Rom 9:22  What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
Rom 9:23  in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory--

If a metaphor has a meaning to help us understand, then we should understand that we are prepared beforehand for glory. We are prepared, not, we create our own destiny.

I’m sure you have watched a potter make a vessel before and noticed that the clay did not have a lot to say about what kind of vessel the potter made out of that clay.

Rom 9:20  But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, "Why have you made me like this?"

We are molded?

I thought we just grew-up and became what we decided to be. I am just kidding, but what an interesting concept, that we are molded by a molder.

A post for 8/20/13

Jer 3:8  She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore.
Jer 3:9  Because she took her whoredom lightly, she polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and tree.

God is talking about His relationship with His chosen people and is using a metaphor of people’s relationship to each other in marriage. The most intimate of all human relationships is to our mates. Our relationships here, on earth, are in the created order, and God’s relationship to His people is eternal.

A post for 8/19/13

Eph 5:32  This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

Paul is talking about husbands and wives, and then he says that he is talking about Christ and the church.
Just another parallelism of created thinks and the spiritual kingdom.
Think about that today.
