A verse for 10/31/12

2Ti 3:16  All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2Ti 3:17  that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Not because I said it, but because the word of God has said so.
Joh 8:32  and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Remember this;
Rom 8:35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
Rom 8:36  As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered."
Rom 8:37  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Rom 8:38  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
Rom 8:39  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

And do you know why?
Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

And you have been called! Called by the Sovereign God, whose call, carries with it the effectiveness to cause submission.

A verse for 10/30/12

Job 1:21  And he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."

The most interesting thing to me about this is the last seven words, no matter what was going on in God’s sovereign will Job still says “blessed be the name of the LORD."

A verse for 10/29/12

1Sa 2:6  The LORD kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.
1Sa 2:7  The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts.
1Sa 2:8  He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and on them he has set the world.

It is common place to put man’s will over God. Let me give you an example.
There is an old song that has this line in it;

“you met me day by day and you knew I was a stray, yet you never mentioned Him to me.”

The thought goes that the one in the song was dead and in hell because the other had failed to pray for and tell him about the cross.
That is to say that God has ordained that human destinies may be changed and molded by the will of man. But that is absolutely untrue! Human destiny is settled not by the will of man, but by the will of God.
God is God and He is sovereign!

A verse for 10/28/12

Act 27:22  Yet now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
Act 27:31  Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved."

Paul was sure of what God had told him, that there would be no loss of life, but he also knew that they had a responsibility.

A verse for 10/27/12

Gen 8:22  While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease."

This does not mean that man’s plowing the ground and sowing the seed are needless. God has from the beginning of time chosen people to fulfill His purpose.
