Rev 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
Rev 1:2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
Rev 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
Rev 1:4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,
Now please don’t get mad at me, but when you read this there are some things that are very obvious. At least I think they are; first in verse one says that what he is about to write about here is “soon to take place.”
Then verse three tells us that “the time is near”
And verse four tell us who this letter is for; the seven churches that are in Asia
So why do we have people telling us that this book is a forecasting of the future and they make up all kind of stuff, like the locusts in chapter 9 are prophetic images of helicopters. And things as wild as your imagination can get, yes I am talking about the “Left Behind” novels; In my opinion they are more harmful than the Da Vinci Code That is a fictional novel also.
I hope that I have not caused anyone to stumble or grumble to much, and if you have to ask yourself. “Why does this matter?” I will ask; “Does truth matter?” I think it does. God bless.
