As I started out to do this study on meditation I, naturally,
went to Google and searched; “Meditation.” I got all kinds of information. You can get
music to meditate by and you can learn about Transcendental Meditation, you can find meditation classes, you can
learn chants.
In the 1950s Maharishi
Mahesh Yogi, who was from India started the Transcendental Meditation. At that
time a lot of people thought any form of meditation was something to shun away
from, it was almost a cult thing to say that you practice meditation.
The bible
encourages us to meditate, but not with a clearing of your mind or getting with
your inner self. No! we are encouraged
to meditate on God and His word.
Here is a verse that
talks about meditation, that I like. I remember back in the 80s it was a praise
song.
Psa 5:1 ….
Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
Psa 5:2 Hearken unto
the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
Psa 5:3 My voice
shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my
prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Direct your prayer unto Him and meditate on Him.
