2Ti 4:9  Make haste to come to me quickly... v13  When you come, bring the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.

Paul was most likely writing this from the “Mamertine Prison” just outside of Rome. It is always damp and dark there, that's why he wanted his cloak. He was now an old man, but was still preserving in the faith, we find him exhorting Timothy to “preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.”
