As humans we have a lot of different kinds of fears. Just
knowing that we are creatures is not always pleasing to think about. To know we
are creatures is to know that we will die someday. That is a thought that we
often put out of our mind and choose not to think about. When someone dies near
us it is disturbing because it reminds us that someday death will come to us.
We have a hard time, as Eve did, with the lie Satan told her; “Ye shall be as
gods” because we want to believe that we to can be a god and live forever.
Mortals have a lot of fears like fear of spiders, snakes,
and the worst of all Centipedes! We call
them phobias.
There is a special kind of phobia called “Xenophobia” it’s a
fear of strangers of foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign. God
is the ultimate object of our xenophobia. He is the ultimate stranger. He is
the ultimate foreigner. He is holy, and we are not.
Exo 15:11
"Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic
in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
