Heb 6:12 so
that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and
patience inherit the promises. 4:14....
let us hold fast our confession.
3:12Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an
evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 12:14Strive for peace with everyone, and for
the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
The pleas come in an effort to help these people (and us)
persevere in faith6:12, and to hold
on4:14, and fight an evil unbelieving
heart3:12, and pursue
holiness12:14 Yes he commends us to do
all of this but he rest in the sovereignty of God and we should do the same (
rest in the sovereignty of God) This writer is calling us to vigilant action,
but in the end he looks up and says, “Thy will be done.” He rests in God's
sovereignty: “This we will do, if God permits.”
