2Pe 1:4
Through his glory and integrity he has given us his promises that are of
the highest value. Through these promises you will share in the divine nature
because you have escaped the corruption that sinful desires cause in the world.
He has given us His promises! And these promises are very
valuable! And through these promises we share in the divine nature!! WOW!!!
I read this and thought it was fitting for this month on promises!
Pass Through!
There is a phrase which occurs again and again in the Bible; it is the phrase, “_It came to pass_.” There is symbolic truth in it.
The Christian should have a certain gift for passing through the experiences of life. One of the tragedies in life is a life which is lingering forever in the past.
There are people who live on past triumphs, on past moments of greatness, yet who fail completely in the duties of the present.
There are people who linger for ever in past disappointments, past grief’s or sorrows, past failures, and who are resentful and bitter throughout their lives.
There is nothing that which unfits a man for the present like the wrong kind of lingering in the past.
“_Forgetting those things which are behind_,” said Paul, “_and reaching forth unto those things which are before_” (Philippians 3:13) – that is the Christian way to live life.
To think things through, to see things through, to pass through things, to go on – this is life.
