Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus Christ in your life you are in conflict with God, and that brings turmoil, and a lack of peace.

To say that we are at peace with someone, is to say that there is no turmoil or conflict with them. And the absents of turmoil and conflict is a peaceful thing to the heart.

Col 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

All Christians are one body. Not just the Christians in your church. But ALL! Just because they go to another church and believe a little different than you, or maybe they don't go to church at all. You are not given the right to make the call, as to whether or not they are Christians, that is the Lord's to make.

There is a story about a lady who died and went to heaven, upon on arrival she was shocked to see others there that she was sure was not supposed to be there. And noticing that they had a look of shock on there faces, she ask, “What's wrong with them?” The answer she got was, They are surprised to see you here!

Don't judge who is and who is not part of the body, but, “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”

Circumstances cannot take God's peace from you unless you let them. You do not have to become agitated, cowardly, intimidated, disturbed, and unsettled. Take hold of that peace that passes understanding. It belongs to you.

There is a verse that says “whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”

If you want peaches you have to sow peach seed, if you want strawberries, well you get it. All the fruit of the Spirit is a product of the seed of the Spirit in you. Harvest peace!

I am sure you have heard this story. That's OK, I will share it again.

The PEACE that God gives is without understanding!

Horatio Spafford (1828-1888). Placed his trust in God during his life. He was a prominent Chicago lawyer, who’s business was thriving. He owned several properties throughout the city. He and his beloved wife had four beautiful daughters and one son. Life was more than good — it was blessed.

But faith, no matter how great, does not spare us from adversity.

Just as Horatio hit the pinnacle of his profession and financial success, things began to change. It began with the tragic loss of their son. Not long thereafter, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed nearly every real estate investment Horatio owned.

Just a few years later in 1873, Horatio decided to treat his wife and daughters to a much needed escape from the turmoil. He sent them on a boat trip to Europe, with plans to join them shortly after wrapping up some business in Chicago. Just a few days later, he received a dreadful telegram from his wife, “Saved alone…” It bore the excruciating news that family’s ship had wrecked and all four of his daughters had perished.

Horatio was on his way to meet his heartbroken wife, passing over the same sea that had just claimed the lives of his remaining children. It was then that he put his pen to paper and the timeless hymn was born, beginning with the words:

When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Rom 1:7 To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Peace is a very precious thing, it is what the world wants, it is what the worlds need. Talk to anyone who has lived a life of luxury and when they are old, if they did not know Jesus Christ, they will tell you that no matter what I tried there was something missing. And what was missing is the peace of God, the peace from God, and you have it! So live it!

The bible uses the word peace 367 times, this is the first time when God is talking to Abraham about his death. And the last time it is used peace is being taken away from the earth.

Peace is something to be cherished and to hold dear. And our God give us peace.

Num 6:24 The LORD bless you and keep you;

Num 6:25 the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;

Num 6:26 the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

The richness of this "Blessing" (Num 6:23) begins with its structure. Each line of the Blessing increases by two Hebrew words (from 3 to 5 to 7) and by five Hebrew letters (from 15 to 20 to 25). So, the Blessing forms a "crescendo," that is, a gradual increase in the intensity of the Blessing to its high point of "peace."

The only way to have real peace is to believe this verse. Believe this verse with all your heart, when bad things come your way. Even very bad things. You may be saying, Calvin you don't know what kind of a week I have had.” Or you could even be saying, “Calvin, I just buried my spouse today! Or, “I have a child who is an addict.” Or, “my child is living a life style of a homosexual.” Believe this verse! And know the reason that “All things work for good.” is so that God can conform you to the image of the Son.

Rom 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son,

If you are in a locked room with some friends and someone else appears in that room with you, I guaranty you you would need to be told, “have peace.”

Jesus says that He will leave PEACE with us, and not just the kind of peace that the world knows, but the peace that only comes from Him. The only real peace there is in the entire universe.

Who is regulating affairs on this earth today-God, or the Devil? That God reigns supreme in Heaven is generally conceded; that He does so over this world, is almost universally denied-if not directly, then indirectly. More and more are men in their philosophizing and theorizing relegating God to the background. Take the material realm. Not only is it denied that God created everything by personal and direct action, but few believe that He has any immediate concern in regulating the works of His own hands. Everything is supposed to be ordered according to the (impersonal and abstract) "laws of Nature." Thus is the Creator banished from His own creation. Therefore we need not be surprised that men, in their degrading conceptions, exclude Him from the realm of human affairs. Throughout Christendom, with an almost negligible exception, the theory is held that man is "a free agent," and therefore, lord of his fortunes and the determiner of his destiny. That Satan is to be blamed for much of the evil which is in the world is freely affirmed by those who, though having so much to say about "the responsibility of man," often deny their own responsibility, by attributing to the Devil what, in fact, proceeds from their own evil hearts.

What a sweeping assertion is this! These words, be it noted, were addressed, not to one of the churches of God, not to a company of saints who had reached an exalted plane of spirituality, but to a heathen audience, to those who worshiped "the unknown God" and who "mocked" when they heard of the resurrection of the dead. And yet, to the Athenian philosophers, to the Epicureans and Stoics, the Apostle Paul did not hesitate to affirm that they lived and moved and had their being in God, which signified not only that they owed their existence and preservation to the One who made the world and all things therein, but also that their very actions were encompassed and therefore controlled by the Lord of Heaven and earth.

Amo 4:8 so two or three cities would wander to another city to drink water, and would not be satisfied;;;

It is God who withholds the rain, and it is God who gives the rain when He wills, where He wills, as He wills, and on whom He wills. Weather Bureaus may attempt to give forecasts of the weather, but how frequently God mocks their calculations!

Even your insurance company knows that God is sovereign and that they will not insure some things call, “an act of God.”

When you see evil in the world, or even in your own heart, do what ever you can to eradicate it. But remember that the most horrendous act of evil in all creation, the crucifixion of the very Son of God, was in the predestined will of God. You do not know what God is doing! God alone is sovereign God, and you are not.

If you have ever been somewhere away from lights at night and looked up, I mean somewhere way away from lights, and looked up (you will know the differences) then you got a look at the great expanse of stars. It is amazing the amount of them, and you can only see a few. Yet your God sees them all and He gave them their names. And if God knows when a sparrow falls to the ground, then He knows when one of His stars goes out. How much more important are His children?

Don't try to run and hide from God. If need be He will appoint a great fish to deal with your sin. Or whatever is appropriate for your sin. You may ask, is God bringing this bad thing into my life to punish me for trying to run and hide? The fish was not to punish Jonah, no, it was to save him.

Don't ever think that your situation is to small, or that it is insignificant to the LORD. Nothing is left to chance, there is no chance. Even a dead bird in the forest, or the amount of hairs that you lost yesterday, God knows, and not one thing happens apart from your Father.

Pay attentions to the way He said this; Declaring, not I see what will happen so therefore I choose that, no, but declaring. God said here that what ever happens I declare it! What ever happens I accomplish it, because My counsel shall stand, I will accomplish all My purpose.

Sovereign is our God!

Isa 46:8 "Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors,

Isa 46:9 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,

Isa 46:10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,'

Isa 46:11 calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.

This month we will look at our God's sovereignty. God is sovereign, completely sovereign, not just over some things, not just over the “important stuff” but over all. He is totally, and completely in control. In control of the car that just missed you, and the dust particle that floats in the sunshine that comes through your window. EVERYTHING is controlled by God!

What about adversity? What about an unhappy marriage, or a failed one?

The misscarrige we had?

Or my spiritually rebellious child?

Unfulfilled dreams, a job loss. A lack of a promotion when I have worked so hard and have been so good for the company.

Loneliness, rejection.

What if I am told I have an inoperable tumor, that will lead to death?

What if you have a severely handicapped child that will never get any better?

You cannot think of anything that is out of the control of God! God has spoken it and He will bring it to pass. declaring the end from the beginning
