My sister, Shirley Ann Callicoat was the most hospitable
person I have ever known.
I remember an event that took place many years ago, most of
my children have heard it before but that’s okay. We were at a cousins house
that was near some rail-road tracks, I was about 8 or 9 years old. We were all
out in the street, which was a dead end street with the tracks just beyond the
end, that was before video games, and that was even before my cousins had a TV.
Anyway we were playing in the street when we saw a man coming from the tracks,
we all started to run away screaming like kids will do as if he were a troll or
something worse. Shirley was walking calmly towards the man to see what he
needed, it was coffee. He had a coffee cup in hand and was asking for some
coffee. Shirley promptly took his cup, went in the house and got him some
coffee. Shirley Ann was gifted with the gift of hospitality.Even though I was very young, I can remember this act of kind hospitality.
Rom 12:13
Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
