In the church I grew up in we used to sing the song, “they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings of eagles, they shall run and be be weary they shall walk and not faint, teach me LORD, teach me LORD to wait.”

Very shortly after leaving Egypt...

Exo 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

Exo 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

The Israelites had just left Egypt and I am sure they were so excited to have there freedom. They had just seen God do miracle after miracle, and they left with all the plunder form the Egyptian people. That they had given to the children of Israel just because they ask, (see yesterday)! And the first time they had a problem, granted it was a big problem you can read the whole chapter 14, they got very upset and they just knew that they were about to die then God told Moses to tell them to “stand still!”

And I would say to you, no matter what you are facing today, “stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD.”

Just before the people of Israel were let go by Egypt, God told Moses to tell the people of Israel to ask something....

Exo 12:35 The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing.

Exo 12:36 And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

We need to pay close attention to what is going on here. The children of Israel, the slaves, ask the Egyptians, the owners of the slaves, for silver and gold jewelry and clothing. Exo 3:8 and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

Exo 3:9 And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

Exo 3:10 Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."

These people had been in Egypt for a very long time, over 400 years, and God said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people.” God not only sees you today He has planed this day before the creation of the universe. God says to you today, and everyday, “ Be still, and know that I am God.”

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to wait. Because while you wait, you have time to worry and come up with all kinds of things that are not true. And, we have a very good ability to imagine almost anything. Just be still and wait. If you have prayed about it and you are doing the right thing then wait upon the LORD! He will renew your strength.
