The faith that you have to believe in Jesus is a gift, it is not your own doing.

Jas 1:17  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

The most perfect and the most good gift that any of us will ever receive is the gift of the cross and the finished work of Jesus.

Col 1:3-6  We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing--as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth,

We all have the great gift from God of the word. Read it every day! And know the author.

May the gift that God has bestowed upon you cause you to point to the cross today and every day!

1Co 12:1-6 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

In all of our seeking after our special gift, may it always be for His glory. Not to build us up, but to point to the cross, and lift up our LORD and our Saviour.

1Co 14:1  Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

In the last hundred years or so we have had a lot of “moving of the Spirit” in a lot of different manifestations, some real and others not so much. Just because there has been confusion and counterfeiting is not a reason to put aside spiritual gifts. We are instructed to desire them.
